Add Objects to a Photo with AI: Furniture, Plants, Props and More
To add an object to a photo, open Object Insert, write what to add and where, and Google’s Nano Banana on Vertex AI places it with light, shadows and perspective that match the photo. It is the opposite of the Object Eraser: plants, furniture, vehicles, props and decorations, not people.
Object Insert: the short answer
- Say what and where: “a potted fern on the left of the sofa”.
- Good for room styling, product props, scene dressing and mock-ups.
- It does not add people and leaves people in the photo unchanged.
- 10 credits a run; failed runs are refunded.
What people search for, answered
How do I add an object to a photo?
Open Object Insert, choose the photo, describe the object and its position, and press Run Pro AI. The model adds it with matching light and shadow.
How do I add furniture to a room photo?
Describe the piece and where it goes: “a grey linen armchair in the empty corner by the window”. For property listings, label virtually staged photos where your MLS or portal requires it; see the real estate guide.
Is there a free alternative to Photoshop Generative Fill for adding objects?
The free tools here remove and extend but do not add objects. Object Insert does the adding with Google’s Nano Banana for 10 credits a run, with no Adobe subscription.
How do I make an added object look realistic?
Pick objects that fit the scale and the setting, say where the light comes from if it is not obvious, and place things on surfaces (“on the table”, “leaning on the wall”) rather than floating.
Can I add text or a logo to a photo?
For text, use the free Add Text to Image tool, which places exact words. For your own logo, use the Watermark tool.
Why use ImgVX Pro AI for it
- Lighting, shadows and perspective that match, because a large model draws the object into the scene instead of pasting it.
- No masking or layers: describe it and its place.
- Nothing else changes in the photo.
- Failed runs cost nothing. If Google returns an error or a safety filter stops the image, the credits go straight back to your account.
- No app, no watermark. It runs from the page in any modern browser on a phone or computer, and the download carries no ImgVX watermark. Google adds its invisible SynthID mark to AI images, which is how AI content should be labelled.
How to use the Object Insert, step by step
- Open Object Insert and choose a photo.
- Describe what to add and where.
- Press Run Pro AI (10 credits).
- Compare and download. Run again on the result to add another object.
Tips for better results
- Give a size reference: “a small cactus in a white pot on the desk”.
- One object per run gives the most control.
- If it lands in the wrong place, name a clearer anchor (“to the right of the lamp”).
What it will not do
- It does not add people, and it leaves anyone already in the photo unchanged.
- Do not use it to fake evidence, damage, products or events.
- Every typed description is checked by our payment provider’s moderation service before Google sees it, and Google’s own safety filters run on every image. Anything in our Acceptable Use Policy (sexual content, anything involving minors, deepfakes, fake documents, removing watermarks) is refused before any credits are used.
What it costs
Pro AI runs on paid credits only, because every run costs us money on Google Cloud: the Object Insert uses 10 credits a run. Pro Monthly is $5.90 a month with 300 credits (your first month is $1), enough for about 30 runs. Pro Yearly is $39.99 a year with 4,000 credits. With no subscription, a credit pack of 50 is $4.99 and 200 is $12.99. The free trial credits do not cover Pro AI, and an account’s Pro AI use is capped by what it has paid, so the $1 first month covers only a few runs. See pricing.
Your photo is sent to Google Vertex AI for that run and is not stored by us; we keep a log of the run (tool, time, credits and any text you typed). The privacy policy has the details.
