SVG to PNG: what it does and when to use it

SVG to PNG turns a vector graphic into a normal image you can use anywhere: in a document, a slide, an email, a chat or a site that does not accept SVG. Because the browser draws the vector at the size you ask for, the PNG is sharp at 2×, 4× or 8× instead of being a small picture enlarged, and the transparent background is kept.

Choose a scale, or an exact width in pixels for a specific slot, and the height follows the SVG's own proportions from its width, height and viewBox. Save as PNG for transparency, JPG for the smallest file on a white background, or WebP for a website. The conversion happens in your browser; the SVG is never uploaded.

SVGs that pull fonts or images from the web can draw without them, because browsers block outside files inside an image; convert text to outlines in Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma first for an exact copy. How do I convert SVG to PNG without losing quality?

Choose 2×, 4× or an exact width here. The browser draws the vector at that size, so the PNG is as sharp as the SVG at the size you picked; only enlarging the PNG afterwards would soften it.

Can I keep a transparent background?

Yes. Keep Background on Transparent and save as PNG or WebP. JPG has no transparency, so it always gets a white background.

Why is the text in my PNG in the wrong font?

The SVG uses a font from the web or installed on another computer, which browsers do not load inside an image. Convert the text to outlines (paths) in your design app before exporting the SVG.

How do I convert SVG to JPG?

Choose JPG under Save as. The background becomes white, since JPG cannot be transparent.
