Make Background Transparent: how to use it

Make Background Transparent: what it does and when to use it
Make Background Transparent removes a flat background, usually white, from a logo, an icon, a scanned drawing, a screenshot or a graphic, and saves it as a PNG with real transparency. It finds the background colour from the border of the image and fills inwards from the edges, so it stops at the outline of your design: a white letter or a white highlight inside the logo stays white.
Tolerance decides how different from the background a pixel can be and still be removed; raise it for JPEG files, whose compression leaves faint blotches around flat colour. Remove the light fringe takes the background colour back out of the half-covered pixels on the edges, which is what stops a white halo when the logo goes on a dark website header. Choose "That colour everywhere" to clear the inside of letters such as O, A and B as well.
It is made for flat backgrounds. For a photo of a person, a product or a pet in front of a real scene, the Background Remover uses an AI model to find the subject instead. How do I make a logo background transparent?
Drop the logo in, leave the background colour on automatic and download the PNG. If a faint box remains, raise the Tolerance a little. To also clear the white inside letters such as O and A, choose "That colour everywhere".
Why is there a white edge around my logo on a dark background?
The edge pixels of a logo are part logo, part background. Keep Remove the light fringe ticked: it takes the background colour back out of those pixels so they blend into any colour. Edge smoothing at 1 or 2 also trims the last hair of fringe.
Why did my transparent image get a white background again?
It was saved or converted to JPG somewhere along the way, and JPG cannot store transparency. Keep it as PNG or WebP, and check that the site or app you upload it to accepts transparent images.
