Shape Drawer: how to use it
- Drop in an image, such as a screenshot.
- Pick Line, Arrow, Rectangle or Ellipse, and a colour and thickness.
- Drag to draw. Hold Shift for a perfect square, circle or 45-degree line. Then download.
Tips
- A thick red arrow or box is the clearest way to point at something in a screenshot for support or a tutorial.
- To hide something, use a solid box in the censor tool rather than drawing over it.
Shape Drawer: what it does and when to use it
The Shape Drawer adds lines, arrows, rectangles and ellipses to an image, with the colour and thickness you choose and an option to fill the shape. Holding Shift while dragging constrains the shape: rectangles become squares, ellipses circles, and lines snap to 45-degree steps.
It is made for annotation: pointing at a button in a screenshot for a support ticket, boxing a detail in a photo of a damaged parcel, circling a location on a map, or marking up a design for feedback. Bright red or yellow at a medium thickness stands out on most screenshots.
Shapes are drawn into the image, so they cannot be moved after you download. For text labels next to your arrows, use Add Text to Image. To hide something in a screenshot rather than point at it, use a solid box in Pixelate & Censor.

Is the Shape Drawer free, and do I need to sign up?
Yes, the Shape Drawer is 100% free with no sign-up, no login and no account. The Shape Drawer runs in your browser, so it has no daily limit and no upload, and saves at full size with no watermark. See why it is free.
How do I add arrows or circles to a screenshot?
Choose the arrow, rectangle or ellipse, pick a colour and line width, and drag on the image. Use a bright colour such as red or yellow so the markup stands out. Related tool: Brush, Eraser & Fill.
How do I highlight part of an image?
Draw a rectangle or ellipse around it. To hide something instead, draw a filled box over it, or pixelate it with the Pixelate and Censor tool.
