Questions

How accurate is the text recognition?

Very good on clean screenshots and scans of printed text, noticeably worse on photographs taken at an angle, on low-contrast text, and on handwriting, which it does not attempt. Straightening the image and cropping to just the text block before running it makes a large difference.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Image to Text (OCR) runs entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API. The file is read from your device, processed on your device, and the result is handed straight back to you. It never travels to a server, so there is nothing for us to store, log or leak.

Is it free, and is there a limit?

It is free with no account and no watermark. Because the work happens on your own hardware there is no per-image cost to us, so there is no quota. The only real limit is your device's memory: images beyond roughly 40 megapixels are refused rather than crashing the tab.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The tools work in any current mobile browser, and the result downloads to your camera roll or Files app like any other download. Very large images are slower on a phone than on a laptop because the processing is genuinely happening on the device.
