Image to PDF: how to use it

  1. Drop in one or more images. They go into the PDF in the order shown.
  2. Pick a Page size (A4, US Letter, A5, A3, or fit each page to its image) and an Orientation.
  3. Set the Margin in millimetres and the Image quality, then download the PDF.

Tips

  • For scanned documents, lower Image quality to around 70 to keep the PDF small enough to email.
  • Orientation set to Match each image turns landscape photos sideways on their own page, so nothing is shrunk.

Image to PDF: what it does and when to use it

Image to PDF places one image on each page of a new PDF, in the order they appear in the list. It is the quick way to turn photos of receipts, signed forms or handwritten pages into one document that can be emailed or uploaded to a portal that only accepts PDFs.

Choose a page size to match what the recipient will print on: A4 for most of the world, US Letter for the United States and Canada. Each image is scaled to fit inside the margins without being stretched or cropped. Fit page to image makes every page exactly the shape of its picture instead, which suits a photo book better than a document. The Image quality setting controls how heavily photos are compressed inside the PDF.

The PDF is written in your browser by our own code, so scans of IDs and bank statements are not sent anywhere. For documents photographed at an angle, square them up first with the Perspective Corrector. Our guide to scanning documents with your phone covers lighting and angle.

Image to PDF: frequently asked questions

Is the Image to PDF free, and do I need to sign up?

Yes, the Image to PDF is 100% free with no sign-up, no login and no account. The Image to PDF runs in your browser, so it has no daily limit and no upload, and saves at full size with no watermark. See why it is free.

Will the images lose quality in the PDF?

The images are embedded at their existing resolution and are not re-encoded, so no. What changes is the page geometry: an image is scaled to fit the page size and margins you pick, so a very wide photo on a portrait page will have white space above and below it. Related tool: PDF to Image.

How do I combine multiple images into one PDF?

Select all the images at once or drop them together; they go into the PDF in the order you picked them, one per page. Choose A4, US Letter or pages that fit each image exactly. More help: ImgVX AI help docs.

How do I make a PDF from photos on my phone?

Open this page in your phone browser, choose the photos from your gallery and download the PDF. For documents, our phone scanning guide shows how to get a clean, straight page first.

How do I make the PDF smaller?

Shrink the images before adding them: resize them to about 1600 pixels wide with the Image Resizer and compress them with the Image Compressor. The PDF is roughly the size of the images inside it.
