Remove Objects from Photos with AI: Just Say What to Erase

To remove an object from a photo, open the Object Eraser and either brush over it (free) or simply write what to remove (Pro AI). The free version fills the brushed area on your device. With Pro AI you type “the bin on the left and the power lines” and Google’s Nano Banana on Vertex AI finds them, erases them and rebuilds the background, changing nothing else.

Object Eraser: the short answer

  • Small things on a simple background: brush them out for free.
  • Thin, scattered or hard-to-brush things (power lines, wires, litter): name them in Pro AI (10 credits).
  • Several objects at once: list them in one description.
  • Watermarks and logos cannot be removed.

What people search for, answered

How do I remove unwanted objects from a photo?

Open the Object Eraser. Brush over the object and press Erase for the free version, or type what to remove in the Pro AI panel, such as “the red car and the traffic cone”, and press Run Pro AI.

Is there a free Magic Eraser online?

Yes. The free Object Eraser works like Google Photos’ Magic Eraser or Samsung’s Object Eraser, in any browser, on your own device. Pro AI adds Google’s larger model for the photos the free fill cannot handle.

How do I remove power lines from a photo?

Power lines are thin and long, which makes them slow to brush. Type “the power lines” in the Pro AI panel; the model finds them and fills the sky behind.

How do I remove a person from the background of a photo?

Brush over them in the free version, or name them in Pro AI (“the person walking in the background on the right”). The model removes them and rebuilds what was behind.

How do I remove clutter from a room photo?

List the clutter in one description, such as “the cables, the shoes by the door and the bag on the chair”. For property listings, do not remove permanent features; see the real estate guide.

Tips for better results

What it will not do

What it costs

Pro AI runs on paid credits only, because every run costs us money on Google Cloud: the Object Eraser uses 10 credits a run. Pro Monthly is $5.90 a month with 300 credits (your first month is $1), enough for about 30 runs. Pro Yearly is $39.99 a year with 4,000 credits. With no subscription, a credit pack of 50 is $4.99 and 200 is $12.99. The free trial credits do not cover Pro AI, and an account’s Pro AI use is capped by what it has paid, so the $1 first month covers only a few runs. See pricing.

Your photo is sent to Google Vertex AI for that run and is not stored by us; we keep a log of the run (tool, time, credits and any text you typed). The privacy policy has the details.
