How do I turn a photo into a pencil drawing for free?
Load the photo and the pencil sketch appears straight away. It is made in your browser, so there is no upload, sign-up or watermark. Use Line detail to choose between fine lines and broad shading, and Darkness to make the pencil heavier.
What is the difference between the styles?
Pencil is a clean grey sketch on white paper. Charcoal is darker with a rougher texture. Colour pencil keeps a soft version of the original colours inside the lines. Ink draws only the outlines in black, which is good for colouring pages.
Which photos work best?
Photos with clear edges and good lighting: portraits, pets, buildings and objects. Very dark or very busy photos give messy sketches, so brighten or crop the photo first. For a painted or cartoon look, the AI Photo to Cartoon tool goes further.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Photo to Sketch runs entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API. The file is read from your device, processed on your device, and the result is handed straight back to you. It never travels to a server, so there is nothing for us to store, log or leak.
Is it free, and is there a limit?
It is free with no account and no watermark. Because the work happens on your own hardware there is no per-image cost to us, so there is no quota. The only real limit is your device's memory: images beyond roughly 40 megapixels are refused rather than crashing the tab.
